An inspiring documentary that looks into the Alternative Education system in Aotearoa New Zealand and what it means when Seven teenage boys from Hamilton became film-makers. Our talented production and facilitation crew worked with the boys from Maanaki ti Rito to teach them the skills needed to tell their own stories and along this journey discovered life from a different side of living. The personal can sometimes be very political.
This documentary premiered at Hamiltons Rialto Cinema in Oct 2005 to a full house comprising of Parlimentary & Government officials, Justice & Education representitives, the community of Fairfield, school principals from the surrounding district, a NZ Television News Network reporting from the event, and all supporters, funders, friends & whanau of cast & crew. This documentary was later submitted to a number of International Festivals around the globe.
